Experience
I have four degrees in education with specializations in social studies and math. I attended West Georgia, Kennesaw State, UGA, and Lincoln Memorial universities. I have three decades of teaching and administering experience at an Atlanta public school. I taught gifted program students for 15 years, as well as tutored displaced and homeless students. I spent four years as the President of the Georgia Association of Educators, during which time I travelled to work with students and educators in public education. I primarily worked as a teacher for elementary-aged students, striving to create a fun yet firm learning environment. I enjoy trying different strategies to help my student's fully understand the material we are learning. I am well-versed in standardized testing with a 98 percent average in meeting and passing state standards. While tutoring, I learn as much as I can about the student's personal learning style, academic goals, and strengths and weaknesses to develop a custom-tailored lesson plan that puts them on the right path to success. I aim to engage my students in the material using activities that will hold their interest. In my free time, I love riding roller coasters at amusement parks and supporting college athletics.
